不但空

' Not only the void '; or, non-void; (sa) śrāvakas and (sa) pratyekabuddhas see only the 'void', bodhisattvas see also the non-void, hence [lang id =1028]不但空 is the [lang id =1028]中道空 the 'void' of the 'mean'. It is a term of the [lang id =1028]通敎 Intermediate school.

謂諸菩薩， 非但見空， 兼見不空， 不空即中道， 故名不但空。

二乘人觀察一切事物， 只見但空而不見不空， 所以叫做但空， 亦名偏空； 菩薩不但見但空， 而且也見不空， 所以叫做不但空， 亦即中道之空， 這是天台四教中通教的空觀。
